A number of flying lessons for pilot checkouts in the 2020 season have been paid for by the foundation's coffers, so the Corona money is coming in handy. Here from pilot training on Friday, September 18.

Very good news in a difficult year: On September 11, Dakota Norway was granted NOK 501,354 in Corona support.

The government grants that provide compensation to NGOs with a significant loss of income due to the Covid-19 outbreak have been distributed by the Norwegian Gaming Authority.Dakota Norway had taken a closer look at expected income for a normal operating year, and according to our budget, this would have given us just over NOK 716,000 in income. The compensation can amount to 70 percent of the loss, which means that the foundation is left with just over half a million kroner. "With this grant, it means that our finances will be fine, perhaps even close to what we had budgeted for a normal flying season," says Helge Hem, chairman of Dakota Norway. "Even though we haven't flown much, it doesn't mean that we don't have expenses... No, we've flown a few hours of pilot training and checks. We have to pay for these flying hours straight from the till, because we haven't had any income from flying this year. We've also had hangar maintenance, insurance and technical work that cost quite a lot. We will also be doing technical work on the aircraft during the fall, which will cost even more, including a corrosion check on the second wing after we did the same with a wing last winter," says Hem.
