ALWAYS HAPPY: Rolf was cheerful and engaged and will be missed! PHOTO: Ivar Berg

Rolf Rørvik died on Saturday, September 15, 2018, aged 83. Dakota Norway has thus lost a long-standing very committed and respected member. Rolf was born and grew up in Hovin in Melhus municipality in Trøndelag. He was trained as an electrical engineer and varied his working life by teaching, researching and working in the electrical field. His last workplace before retirement was at Sensor Nor in Horten where he worked with microtechnology. He bought a house with his wife Rønnaug in Føynland on Nøtterøy in 1993, and was involved in Dakota Norway's work from the early 1990s. Rolf had learned to fly in his younger years, and it was a knowledgeable Trønder with accurate lines who became active in the gang around the Dakota at Torp. He set up and led several Dakota tours to the Airbus factory in Hamburg, where he arranged thorough tours of the aircraft factory's large assembly halls for the tour participants, and also led some of the historic tours to Visby on Gotland. Throughout Rolf's many years at Dakota Norway, he took an active part in all activities that required the members' efforts to keep the wheels turning, from washing and polishing the aircraft during the winter season, to cabin and ground service when the flying seasons started in the spring. In recent years, he worked with the booking group, guiding new and old members into the queue for one of the popular and well-attended Wednesday flights over Vestfold. On good days with a large number of people at the ticket counter, the atmosphere can sometimes be a little tense among the many people queuing for a flight. In this case, Rolf played an important role as the person who always had a complete overview of the queue order, and who could disarm a situation with a warm, humorous line in the Trøndelag way. We send our condolences to Rolf's family and express our gratitude for having been able to use his commitment and expertise. For the board of the Dakota Norway Foundation, Ivar Berg, Chairman
